Participants FAQ
WHAT DO THE PARTICIPANTS GET AT THE COMPETITION?
In addition to attending a first class competition with the best sound and lighting show in the business - all teams will win a placement trophy for competing at the event. Every participant will receive a competitor gift. Every national championship team will win a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP hoodie! Each team winning the GRAND CHAMPION award will be awarded a GRAND CHAMPION trophy stading over six feet tall as well as GRAND CHAMPION medals!
WILL THERE BE A COMPETITOR PARTY?
Depending on the competition. Many of our events we consider commuter events where most teams travel to and from the events each day. For the events where many of the teams stay overnight, and at all of our PLATINUM events there will be a competitor party!
WHEN WILL WE KNOW WHAT PLACE WE ARE IN?
At all Athletic Championships we generally give the scores out 1 hour after the division is complete on day 1 and at the awards ceremony on day 2.
ARE WE ALLOWED TO HAVE SIGNS, BALLOONS, NOISEMAKERS, ETC.?
We encourage all of the fans to show support for their teams. Signs and noisemakers are perfectly fine as long as they are placed where they will not impede anyone's view. Helium balloons are generally not allowed in the arena and convention centers. Non-helium balloons are generally acceptable. You many want to check with the actual arena or convention center for their specific rules regarding display of balloons and signs.
IS THERE AN OUT OF BOUNDS AT THE COMPETITION?
Athletic Championships follows the USASF Rules. At the present time there is not a universal guideline regarding out of bounds. We do ask that all participants remain on the floor during the entire routine, but we do not deduct for participants stepping off of the competition floor.
WHO ARE THE ATHLETIC JUDGES
Athletic hires some of the most qualified judges from across the country to judge all of our events. Our judges are trained on all elements of both cheer and dance and many of them judge for us throughout the season. Our judges include former cheerleaders, dancers, coaches, choreographers, and many well respected gym and studio owners. Since Athletic uses the most up to date computerized scoring system you can rest assured that the judging is consistent.
